PAX East 2011

So this past weekend I attended PAX East 2011. I had attended PAX East 2010, but only on Friday for a short period of time. This year, I finally had the chance to experience it for real. I finally saw how amazing of an event it was.

I spent most of my time in the Exhibition Hall. This is where various games and products are showcased from a slew of companies. It is really fun and exciting to see the upcoming titles and cool hardware. I unfortunately did not get a chance to try any of the showcased games, but watched plenty of them. I participated in a lot of the giveaways, raffles, surveys, and more – I am a contest maniac! And guess what — I actually won! Thanks to ASUS, I was the first to say the phrase “liquid cooling” and received an Antec Kuhler 620. It’s comparable to the Corsair H50, an All-in-One CPU Water Cooling Unit. (Of which is currently in my system.) I will have to compare the two and see if there is an improvement. I also received a handful of shirts, pens, mouse pads, hats, etc. It was a fantastic time.

Additionally, over the past month or so, I became friendly with the guy behind Monster Gaming. He told me he would be at PAX so I obviously made sure to see him. He ended up giving me loads of goodies as well :)

Besides the Exhibition Hall, I also attended two panels. The first was Rooster Teeth. I’m sure you know of them. They run several internet video series on YouTube. I personally enjoy the Rage Quit series. They are also the ones behind Red vs. Blue. They were very funny to listen to, and we even got a chance to see the unreleased Red vs. Blue new season trailer! That was a lot of fun.

The second panel we saw was XPlay: Live! XPlay is a daily weekday show on G4TV. Adam, Blair, and Morgan were there and showed us some funny videos, a live review of Dragon Age 2, and Q&A. That was also a ton of fun to see. It was a live showing, so you will be able to watch us at 3PM (EST?) Saturday on G4!

Besides that, we did a couple of 45 minute sessions at the PC Freeplay Area. Also, I personally enjoyed the League of Legends content. They showed off the new champion that just came out, Nocturne. He looked really cool! In the PAX Swag bag, there was a PAX Jax champion skin card, and we were also lucky to receive Riot Singe champion skin cards as well!

At the Newegg booth, sWooZie was there, and at the ASUS booth they were doing live LN2 (liquid nitrogen) sessions! Overall, I had an amazing time. There was plenty of activities I did not have the chance to participate in, so I look forward to next year already! (Maybe I can somehow get to PAX Prime? :D )

Anyway, take a look at the gallery of pictures I took randomly. I’m not the best photographer, and my camera isn’t very good. I hope the pictures are still enjoyable to view!
